Very proud that many of you have been working diligently to continue your Shorinji Kempo studies via the live-streaming classes. Your dedication to move forward during these challenging times sets precedence for others to follow. I ask you to continue your dedication to the art of Shorinji Kempo and continue studying your next-level techniques. We are in the process of formulating a plan to give Live Streaming Exams.
Shorinji Kempo Orange County, California branch is holding our first Live-stream Zoom Kata tournament on May 29th, 2020 starting at 6pm USA Pacific Standard Time ! ! We will have Kyu and Dan kenshi categories (White, Yellow, Green, Brown and Black) in separate Zoom Breakout sessions. So far we have 4 different branches participating!
We encourage all of you to actively participate in our first of its kind Live Streaming Kata Tournament. As this will be live streaming, we may ask you to do the kata more than once. Keep in mind the kata should be between 1min 15 seconds – 1min 30 seconds, so pace yourself between each kata segment.

Katas will be judged on the following five factors: 1) Accuracy 2) Rhythm 3) Kamae/ Stance/footwork 4) Kiai 5) Focus/ Zanshin and Chosoku/Breathing. Keep in mind the kata should be between 1min 15 seconds – 1min 30 seconds, so pace yourself, keep loud kiai, and focus (Zanshin).
Judges training for the 9 judges is scheduled for 7:30pm-8:30pm May 27th, 2020.
